→ Yukimura's starter, Gen is similar to, but not exactly like, his namesake, Sanada Genichiro. Easily the most devoted of the Pokemon, Gen is obedient and stubborn, willing to follow his master to the ends of Johto if necessary. It does have an affectionate and playful side, though, and sometimes bullies the other Pokemon in a bid for Yukimura's attention.

→ Received as a gift from Fuji and named for Kirihara Akaya, Aya is a fun-loving Pokemon that is perhaps not quite as mysterious and cool as an Umbreon should be. She likes to harass the other Pokemon and even sometimes her trainer, but she also trains hard enough to please Yukimura and really enjoys battling.

→ Ren was received as an egg during the Easter event and promptly named after Yanagi Renji. Calm and determined, Ren trains hard and obeys his trainer readily. He does his best to keep Aya and the others in line, but that's a battle he's destined to lose.

→ Rikkai was bought from Eridan Ampora Captain Dualscar. The Vespiquen is really nothing like the school she was named after, Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku, but... well, she's the school colors, at least. Sweet and a bit silly, Rikkai tries her best but is more likely to accidentally fly into things than to be useful.

→ Caught outside Goldenrod City, Haru was named after Niou Masaharu. Like its namesake, Haru can be a bit too playful, disguising itself as things that it really shouldn't in order to tease its trainer. Even so, it doesn't flinch from training, and like the other Pokemon is rather devoted to Yukimura.
